My wife Debi and I have been a part of the Brown Wesleyan family since August of 1986. Our ministry began with inner city mission work while attending God’s Bible College in Cincinnati, Ohio. Following graduation we served two different churches in Kentucky prior to our arrival at BWC. Our passion for worship, and vision for the faith-induced horizon continue to feed our spirits and energize our will to service and minister in the Gibsonville community and surrounding area.  We  have two children, our daughter Charity who is married to Todd Loftis, and they have two children, Bryson and Pazlie.  Our son Jereme is married to Kristin, and they have two daughters Lily and Rose.

Favorite part about my job:  I love the opportunity of telling the Gospel.  Being able to connect people with the hope and relevance of God’s Word inspires me and hopefully those who are hearing the message
Favorite verses of Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:19-12
Hobbies: Fishing, Enjoying new places with my wife, Being a grandfather
A little bit more: In Larryland, true blue is Kentucky blue.

Debi and I began our relationship while serving on a college mission’s team to Cottonwood, AZ. in the summer of 1975.  Our first kiss took place that summer on the very edge of the Grand Canyon.  Wow, what a memory!

Youth Pastor - Wendel McDowell

Wendel grew up in Brown Wesleyan Church and Melinda grew up in Apple’s Chapel Christian Church. Both were saved and baptized as teens but became most passionate for the Lord and ministry after they were married. It was in 1999 that Wendel fully committed his life to Christ and began teaching Sunday School as well as actively participating in other church ministries. In 2003 he felt the Lord calling him to fulltime youth ministry but doors closed and he had the opportunity find out just how much he trusted God. Shortly after telling God that he was going to wait on Him, Pastor Larry called Wendel about coming on board as Youth Pastor at BWC. Wendel is now a licensed minister in the Wesleyan Church, just shy of ordination. Melinda is a kindergarten school teacher at Vandalia Christian School and is actively involved in the youth and children’s ministries of BWC. Their children are Morgan-16, Whitney-13, Lane-10. Their desire is for everyone they can touch through their ministry to know the Lord as their savior and help them to become all that they can be in Christ

Favorite part about my job: Seeing lives transformed by Jesus Christ and seeing those lives come together to form Christ's living body in the world.
Favorite verses of Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 / Romans 8:28
Hobbies: Coaching, Hiking, Biking, Yard work (when I get a chance), Playing all sports, Reading

A little bit more: I love seafood. I've never eaten at a seafood restaurant I did not like!!! :)

My wife Lisa and I have been married for 28 years and we are relatively new to BWC. We have one married daughter (Kera) with a daughter and son (Kennedy & Corbin) of her own. (That makes us BKA as PawPaw and Nana) We have a 22 year old daughter (Kaitlyn) and a 20 year old son (Christian).

I served for several years as a youth pastor at my home church in Greensboro and recently completed a 10 ½ year bi-vocational preaching ministry at CrossGate Wesleyan Church in Oak Ridge. We are excited about this new, more focused, direction that God is moving us toward here at BWC. My desire is to see our entire church involved in FIRED up small groups that help develop genuine Christ centered relationships.  My hope is that all who visit with us and sense God’s direction to connect will find a group of great friends to share life with.

Favorite part about my job:  I love getting to know people and helping them find ways to connect with one another as they connect with Christ in everyday life.

Favorite verses of Scripture: Psalm 46:10a

Hobbies: Reading, tennis, bad golf and being a college basketball fanatic

A little bit more: In Kellyland, true blue is Duke blue.

True love is friendship…caught on fire.

I am married to my best friend!
